Partnerships to Improve Community Health
The next step to reducing health disparities in King County
In 2015, Public Health — Seattle & King County, Seattle Children's Hospital, and the Healthy King County Coalition created awards from the King County Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) work, a funding stream in King County's history of Healthy Communities work.
As part of PICH, the South King County Food Coalition received federal funds to participate in a regional movement to increase access to healthy environments where people live, learn work and play.
The Coalition participated in the Health Eating cohort which had a mission of "having equal access to healthy, fresh foods has a big impact on everything from diabetes risk to early learning. Healthy eating programs increase equitable food access, making healthy food affordable, convenient and culturally-relevant" (See the PICH Website for more information).
